Members of the Rural Post Office Employees’ Union continued their protest on the third day in front of the main Post Office on Thursday. They were demanding fulfilment of their long-pending demands.
Notably, on a state-wide protest call given by the All India Rural Postal Employees Union, the postal employees have been on an indefinite strike these days.
The protesters alleged that the Kamlesh Chandra Committee report was formed on the lines of the 7th Pay Commission, but the government and the DG, Post, Delhi, had not fully implemented for postal workers. They also demanded that their 10-point demands must be fulfilled otherwise the protest would continue.
Nachatar Singh Khemuana, a member of the Rural Post Office Employees’ Union, said, “The Union Government in connivance with the DG (Post), Delhi, had not completely implemented the Kamlesh Chander Committee report, which was prepared on the pattern of the 7th Pay Commission report. By doing so, they have done injustice to 2.70 lakh postal employees, who have been working in rural areas. As per the report, 170 points should be implemented, but all points were not implemented.
The protesters demanded that the pension of postal employees and the health scheme should be implemented. Besides, they said the Union Government was exploiting rural post office employees.
