People’s problems to be resolved on priority: FM

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Tuesday presided over the meeting of the District Grievance Redressal Committee, which was held at the District Administration Complex meeting hall.
In the meeting, he listened to various complaints of city, towns and villages and directed the officials concerned to resolve them at the earliest. He assured that people’s problems would be resolved on priority. Even suggestions regarding development works and problems from various officials were taken.
Badal directed the officials that they should see to it that ongoing development works were completed on time. He assured the officials that there would not be any shortage of funds for the ongoing development works and soon they would find a solution to the sewage and drinking water problems in the city.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner B Srinivasan said the work of dewatering ponds had been completed in 310 villages of the district. He said this work would also be completed in the remaining villages. He said herbal gardens had been established in government schools in the district so that students could get to know about the benefits of the medicinal plants. He said the Forest Department had planted around 8 lakh saplings in the district so far.
Manpreet Badal directed the MCB Commissioner that they must find solutions to control the rising number of stray cattle and dogs in the city so that they did not create any hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic in the city. MCB Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill said, “In last three days, they caught around 375 stray cattle in the city. Badal directed the MCB officials that the lifted stray cattle should be sent to cattle ponds.
The Finance Minister also had a discussion with SSP Dr Nanak Singh over the drugs. Dr Nanak Singh said they were doing various search operations at various places to stop the drugs and they were arresting the accused involved in drugs. Mayor Balwant Rai Nath raised the issue that tree guards should be installed along the newly planted saplings in the city.
The Finance Minister said to dedicate the 550th parkash purab of Guru Nanak Dev, the farmers should not burn paddy stubble. He directed the officials to create awareness among the masses.
Badal also directed the District Food and Supply Controller that ration card holders’ cards should be made in the areas concerned only so that they did not face any problem. He directed the officials to make the city more beautiful, the encroachments near the lakes should be removed. Even he directed the DC and the SSP that they should check the rising number of beggars on city roads and they should not be allowed to gather at crowded places.
KK Aggarwal takes charge as BIT Chairman
Congress leader and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee’s permanent delegate KK Aggarwal on Tuesday took charge as the Chairman of the Improvement Trust, Bathinda. A few days ago, the state government had issued an order for his appointment. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and other Congress leaders accompanied him during the ceremonial function. The Finance Minister also handed over a cheque for Rs 8.63 crore to the newly appointed Chairman for different development works of the city. In his speech, KK Aggrawal thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh for assigning the new task of chairmanship of the Improvement Trust. Aggarwal said he would perform his duties with integrity and honesty. He said he would leave no stone unturned for the overall development of the city. Later, the Finance Minister said all the issues pertaining to the colonies under the Improvement Trust would be resolved on a priority basis. He said a railway bridge would be constructed at a cost of Rs 95 crore at five gates near Sanjay Nagar in Bathinda.
