The online admission procedure has begun at the Government Polytechnic College for the academic session 2016-17. College principal Darshan Singh Sidhu said on the directions of the Technical Education Board, Chandigarh, the joint entrance test has been done away with and the admissions will be done on the basis of the marks secured in class X examinations. The last date of registration is June 15. Sidhu said for the convenience of the candidates who aspire to take admission in the college, the institute has set up help desks and the candidates may come to the college campus and get themselves registered for admission. The candidates will also get an opportunity to interact with the guidance and counselling cell which has especially been constituted by the college to help the candidates choose the right course.

GKU-VC ON ICAR’s research advisory board of IIMR

Vice Chancellor of Guru Kashi University Dr NS Malhi has been nominated on the Research Advisory Board of the Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, for a period of three years. It is a rare honour for a scientist. Dr Malhi earlier served on this research body from 2009 to 2012.

Students told about Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan

Sukhvindra Memorial Charitable Trust presented a street play at the Baba Farid School aiming to make the students aware of the importance of the Swachh Bharat campaign launched by the Central government more than a year back. Plays titled ‘Jitthe Safai, Utthe Khudai”, as penned by Lalit Kumar and ‘Jal Hai To Kal Hai’ penned by Indrajit Singh were presented before the students by the organisation.

Staged under the guidance of MCB engineer Sandeep Gupta, the play dwelt upon the topic of keeping the nation clean through the medium of comedy. After watching the play, the students and staff members took an oath to keep their homes, surroundings, school and nation clean to make the campaign a success.

Mothers’ Day celebrated

RBDAV Senior Secondary School celebrated Mother’s Day. Mothers of various students participated in the events held on the occasion. Contests were organised in various competitions like best dressed up student, nail art, mehndi and hair style, singing competition, recipe and salad making were held. Shanti Jindal, Usha Goyal and Mamta Goyal were the guests of the day. The principal of the school, Pramod Khursija, headmistress Suman Kansal and Kiran also attended the function and praised and motivated the students and the teachers for their participation and contribution.

Four MBA students placed

Four students of MBA at Baba Farid College of Management & Technology have been selected for placement in Muthoot Finanance & Secure Now. The students selected include Avonjot Kaur, Rajinder Kumar, Ranvir Kaur and Shilpa Batra. The recruitment process of Muthoot Finance included a written test followed by a personal interview while in case of Secure Now, it was a written test, group discussion and finally, a telephonic interview.
