Parent-teacher meetings held at govt schools in Faridkot district

On the pattern of private schools, all government schools in Faridkot on Saturday organised parent-teacher meetings.
These meeting were held immediately after a quiz. It was organised in the presence of parents. Students were also honoured on the occasion.
The motive of the meetings was to updates parents about the progress of their children. On the pattern of private schools, the meetings were organised in all government schools a week after the mid-term exams which were held from September 9 to 16.
To ensure their participation and boost the morale, the School Education Department approached the parents of every student, said Dharamvir Singh, Deputy District Education Officer, Faridkot. He said students who have performed well in every field were honored in the presence of their parents on Saturday.
To give a graceful welcome to the parents in the school, every school was allotted Rs 1,000 each by the Education Department.
It was made ensure that parents get refreshment during their visit to the school. They were showcased the development of the school and its infrastructure.
“It is the general attitude that parents, who are more sensitive for education of child, send their child to a private school.
Parents having less resources and least bothered about education of child take less pain and select government schools for him or her, said a senior official in the Education Department.
“Teachers need to work for searching opportunities for interacting parents of such students and make them aware of importance of parents’ role. So, this is the initiative to develop the art of interaction between the teachers and parents,” he added.
Parent-teacher interaction is necessary to achieve targets of effective education at the school level, he said.
