New medical college in Mohali soon, says VC

The State Government is going to start a new Medical College at Mohali. It has also started the process to reopen Gian Sagar Medical College, Banur. This information was given by Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot on Thursday.
The Vice-chancellor was addressing doctors after hoisting the Tricolour. He said the classes for first year of the MBBS course at AIIMS, Bathinda, would start from the premises of Guru Gobind Singh (GGS) Medical College in Faridkot.
As many as 50 students of AIIMS, Bathinda, have already reported at the BFUHS for verification of their documents. Their classes will start in the coming days. These students will be shifted to Bathinda the next year and the next batch of MBBS will start at AIIMS.
Due to non-completion of building this year, as many as 4 educational institutions in the region had offered their premises to start the first batch of AIIMS. However, a team of senior doctors from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, selected Guru Gobind Singh Medical College.
Dr Raj Bahadur shared the achievements of the university such as implementation of Ayushman Bharat, a project of the Government of India, Girls Hostels for GGS Medical College, University College of Nursing, Faridkot, Regional Institute of Nursing, Goindwal Sahib, and starting of PG Forensic and Radiotherapy and MCh Plastic Surgery at GGS Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.
Registrar of the university Dr.Arvind Sharma, Controller of Examination Dr SP Singh, Dean Colleges Dr Deepak Bhatti were also present on the occasion. — TNS
