On the second day of their two-day pen-down strike in favour of their demands, members of the Punjab State DC Office Employees Union, Bathinda, today announced to observe another strike on February 1 and 2. On February 2, the staff will also burn an effigy of the state government.
This week, the public works at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and tehsil remained stalled for two days due to the strike of the employees. The offices will open for the public for two days before closing again for a long weekend due to Republic Day on Friday.
Raising slogans against the state government, the protesters said they would intensify their stir in case the government failed to fulfil their demands.
The union president said, “We have been urging successive governments to heed our demands, but in vain.”
