Lok Morcha Punjab protests abrogation of Art 370 in J&K
Bathinda, August 18
Members of the Lok Morcha Punjab held a protest march against the abrogation of Article 370 at Goniana Mandi.
The protesters said the move was aimed at suppressing voices of dissent which would further deprive residents of Kashmir from right to self-determination. They also raised slogans against Indian and Pakistan government for ignoring rights of natives.
A large number of protesters participated in the march and raised slogans against the Union Government. Sukhwinder Singh, state committee member of the union, said: “We oppose the revocation of Article 370 that took away special rights of natives of Kashmir. It is a move aimed at crushing the voice of dissent and divesting Kashmir residents from their fundamental right to self-determination. Internet services and other communication channels were stopped and genuine demands of people are suppressed and natives were thrown in jails.”
The protesters said the democratic fabric of the nation would erode and doors for corporate houses to loot the country would be open with such moves.
The protesters started the protest march from railway station, Goniana, and covered Mall road and Mahendar Singh Road, before ending it near local bus stand. — TNS
