Giddha, dance mark Day 1 of youth festival

Students of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) delivered soulful performances during the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival-2019 titled ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’. Aimed at promoting talent and culture, the festival started amidst fanfare at university campus here on Thursday.

T festival was dedicated to the celebrations of 550th birthday anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. It comprised various cultural and talent-oriented performances, creative competitions and technical events. More than 500 students of institutes affiliated to the university celebrated the spirit of life by performing in various events.

Varsity vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar inaugurated the youth festival by lighting the ceremonial. MC Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill was chief guest on the occasion while Dilbar Pal Singh, director engineering, All India Radio, Bathinda, was the guest of honour. Prof Savina Bansal, Dr Ashish Baldi and heads of various departments graced the occasion with their presence.

Professor Ishar called upon the audience to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev whose “timeless vision” is as relevant today as when expounded five centuries ago.

The first day of the youth festival witnessed various cultural and non-cultural activities, including giddha, light vocal indian solo, classical vocal solo, one act play & mimicry, group shabad, group song indian, classical dance, classical instrument, western vocal solo, western group song, hindi solo dance (girls), duet dance, poem recitation, collage making, clay modeling, mehndi, cartooning, rangoli, creative writing (essay and short story and poetry) and on the spot photography.

Bikramjit Singh motivated students to participate in co-curricular activities for their overall development.
