Bhucho Mandi students win TT gold

The three-day district school games concluded amid some emphatic performances by athletes on Friday. More than 2,000 students participated in 23 categories of sports.

In table tennis U-14 (girls), Bhucho Mandi bagged the first position while Phul Mandi got the second spot. In U-17 table tennis, Bhucho Mandi came first and Bathinda-I had to suffice with second place.

In basketball U-14 (girls), Bathinda-II secured the first place, Bathinda-I bagged the second place and Mandi Phul had to suffice with third position. In gymnastics U-14(boys), Police DAV bagged the first place and Parasram Nagar secured the second position.

In kabaddi national style U-17, Talwandi Sabo secured the first place, Mandi Phul remained second and Mandi Kalan managed to come at third place. In handball U-14 (girls), Bathinda-I came first and Sangat bagged the second place.

Earlier, in badminton U-14 (girls), Bathinda zone-II bagged the first position, Bathinda zone-I secured the second place while Talwandi Sabo bagged the third position.

In basketball U-14 (girls), Talwandi Sabo defeated Goniana, Mandi Phul defeated Maur Mandi and Bathinda-II defeated Talwandi Sabo.

In fencing U-19 (boys), Mehtab Singh of Baba Farid School won the first position, Jasminder Singh of Bangi Kalan won the second position. In softball U-14 (boys), Saint Xavier School won the first position, Government Senior Secondary School won the second position and Bhucho Mandi won the third place. In handball U-14 (girls), Bathinda-I bagged the first position, Sangat secured the second place. In U-19 girls, Bathinda-I bagged the first place and Talwandi Sabo bagged the second position.

District Education Officer (Secondary) Kulwant Singh presided over the function as the chief guest. Players were honoured with trophies, mementoes and certificates.
