Bathinda All Non Government Organisations (BANGO) today held an awareness rally against the use of the killer Chinese string in the city ahead of the Basant Panchmi.

BANGO activists also burnt the Chinese string, which was recovered earlier near Fire Brigade Chowk in the city.

The rally was taken out in various markets and parts of the city. The members were seen carrying banners on which it was written ‘No to Chinese string’.

Member Rakesh Narula said all the NGOs in the city were fighting against the use of the Chinese string as in the past many persons had lost their lives and got injured by the string.

He said, “We don’t want any such incident for which we are creating awareness among the youth against the string. Awareness seminars are already going on in schools for students who are into kite flying.”
