Woman shoots self

Baljit Kaur (51), a resident of New Golden Avenue, ended her life by shooting herself from the licensed weapon of her husband on Friday. No family member was present at home at the time of the incident.
According to information, Tilak Raj Singh works as goldsmith at Sultanwind road. He had procured the weapon for safety.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) JS Walia said, “As per the family members, the victim was diabetic and depressed. She was under treatment. She also suffered with some mental ailment which the family came to know about recently.”
On Thursday, Tilak Raj went to his work while his two sons were out of station for some work. Baljit Kaur was alone at home. She shot herself on the second floor of her house at around 10 pm. People heard the gunshot and gathered outside the house. They informed Tilak Raj Singh who rushed back and found her dead in a pool of blood.
According to the ADCP, the body was handed over to the family members after a postmortem examination. He said the case was registered under criminal procedure code for the time being and further investigation was under way.
