Amritsar, January 29

The All India Inter-University Tug of War Championship concluded at the sports complex of the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) here today. As many as 40 teams of 65 universities, comprising 500 players, participated.

The championship was divided into three categories — men, women and men-women.In the men’s championship, the overall trophy was lifted by Panjab University, Chandigarh, and the first and the second runners up were Punjabi University, Patiala, and GNDU, Amritsar.

In the women’s category, Punjabi University, Patiala, lifted the overall trophy whereas the PU, Chandigarh, and GNDU stood second and third, respectively.

In the mix (men and women) category, the first three ranks were bagged by the Punjabi University, Patiala, GNDU and the PU, respectively.

GNDU Vice Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu presided over the concluding function and gave away trophies to the winners. Sukhdev Singh, Director, Sports, gave the details about the activities of the department.
