The city has a total of five satellite hospitals on its periphery. The other two satellite hospitals at Fatahpur and Kale Ghanupur have not been selected, said an official.

At present, the satellite hospitals are not helping in normal child deliveries with no facilities for C-section surgeries. With this upgradation, the hospitals would also get the facilities of specialists such as paediatricians, surgery and medicine specialists.

The department had earlier set up dental wings at satellite hospitals. Civil Surgeon Dr Jai Singh said with this upgradation, the facilities at these hospitals would also get a face lift.

“These hospitals would get more staff and infrastructure. The idea is that patients from nearby villages do not have to come to hospitals in the city. It would help them get facilities near their homes and besides it would also reduce rush at hospitals in the city,” he said. The process has already begun as renovation of buildings has started.
