Three more to face action in PF embezzlement case

After suspending a clerk in the provident fund embezzlement case, MC Commissioner Sonali Giri has written to the state government for suspension of three officials of the accounts branch of the MC. According to information, the Commissioner recommended action against Parduman Singh, in charge, Accounts Branch, and two Deputy Comptrollers Finance (DCF), Mannu Sharma and Ashwani Bahgat. Interestingly, these officials were also in the committee to investigate the fraudulent appropriation of the provident fund by the clerk, Jaspreet Kaur.

The MC Commissioner, Sonali Giri, also asked officials to file a police complaint against the accused clerk. Jaspreet had confessed to the embezzlement of Rs 63 crore. After the audit of last two year’s PF, the committee found that Jaspreet Kaur withdrew the money from the PF accounts and then deposited it again.

The MC officials also decided to conduct the audit of last eight years to find other irregularities of the Accounts Department. Meanwhile, MC Commissioner also shuffled the four superintendents and 14 clerks in various departments of various departments.

Superintendent Darminderjit Singh transferred to Death and Birth wing from health wing. Superintendent Pardeep Rajput of Death and Birth transferred to Health wing. Similarly Davinder Singh of advertisement wing transferred to Civil and Garish Kumar of Civil transferred to advertisement wing.

The clerks including Narinder Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, Kamlesh Kumar , Satyanand, Vishal Sharma , Navroop Singh, Balwinder Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Ritesh Bharti, Simarjit Singh , Rakesh Kumar and Jatinder Uppal transferred to their department.

The other 14 clerks, who have been working on their posts from years, are shuffled with each other. According to information, several employees are reluctant to join new department. MC Commissioner Sonali Giri instructed to the employees to join the new offices and responsibilities on Monday.
