Student ends life in GNDU hostel

A student of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room here on Sunday. Identified as Prabal Kumar, he hailed from Hoshiarpur. The police have found a suicide note in his room.
The incident came to light when his classmates knocked at his room at around 1.30 pm for going to a laboratory, but got no response. They managed to reach the rear window of his room through an adjoining room and peeped inside to find him hanging from a ceiling fan.
According to GNDU security officer Sukhdev Singh, students broke the window to enter the room and opened the doors. They untied the noose, grounded the body and alerted the university authorities. The GNDU security rushed to the spot and also informed the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) Mukhwinder Singh said the deceased was a second year student of MSc (Microbiology). He was an introvert, the investigation revealed.
A suicide note was found from his table in which he said that no one was responsible for his death and nobody should be held responsible for this. His family members were called who verified his handwriting. Cops too matched his handwriting with notebooks. The police also took his mobile phone for further probe.
He said the matter was still under investigation. They body was handed over to his family after a postmortem examination.
