Private schools outdo government ones

AMRITSAR: Private schools have outdone government schools in the PSEB Class X exams the results of which were declared by the board today as all 16 merit positions in the district were cornered by students of the private institutes

Private schools have outdone government schools in the PSEB Class X exams the results of which were declared by the board today as all 16 merit positions in the district were cornered by students of the private institutes.

Amritsar district achieved the third position in pass percentage in the state.

Students of Ajit Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School secured six merit positions, Guru Nanak Public School at Nath Di Khuhi village and Prabhakar Senior Secondary School grabbed two merit positions each.

Khalsa Collegiate Senior Secondary School, Ashoka Senior Secondary School, Amardeep School in Nawankot, Sarv Shakti High School at Shahid Udham Singh Nagar, Ambar Public School and a Pingalwara Charitable Society-run school managed one merit position each.

Simranpreet Kaur and Rishamjeet Kaur of Prabhakar Senior Secondary School, Chheharta, won the second and fifth positions in the state. Both of them never took tuitions and relied on self-study with the assistance of their family members.

School principal Rajesh Prabhakar said he had already identified their capability to top the state. He recalled that he made them took oath in the presence of District Education Officer Satinderbir Singh during his visit to the school in October stating that they would come in the top 10 in the state.

Simranpreet has IAS dreams

Simranpreet is the daughter of Randhir Singh, a LIC agent, and Ramanjit Kaur, a housewife. She relied upon her grandfather Amrik Singh, who retired as senior deputy head cashier from the SBI, to teach her mathematics. She scored 98.92 per cent.

Amrik said he had been teaching her mathematics regularly at home while she used to study other subjects on her own.

She also aspires to become an IAS officer after finishing her studies. Her favourite subjects are mathematics and physics, hence, she wants to pursue non-medical in Class XII.

Rishamjeet aims to be ophthalmologist

Rishamjeet is the daughter of Bhupinder Singh, who is self-employed, and Ranjeet kaur, a housewife. She used to get assistance in mathematics and science from her elder brother, who is studying a non-medical student of Class XII in the same school. She aims to become an ophthalmologist. She has consistently been taking part in declamation contests.

Fighting odds, Dilpreet makes her parents proud

Dilpreet Kaur, a student of the Pingalwara Charitable Society-run school, secured 97.7 per cent. Her father is a tailor by profession and mother Paramjeet Kaur works with the society.

Dilpreet is a state-level basketball player.

As many as six students of Ajit Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School bagged merit positions. Avneet Kaur ranked 19 in the state as she obtained 97.08 per cent marks. She aims to become a pilot. Muskanpreet was ranked 21 in the state and wished to pursue medical studies to become a doctor.

Lovepreet Kaur stood 23 in the state and aims to become a lecturer. Snehdeep and Kirandeep got 24 and 25 positions in the state. Avinashdeep stood fifth in the state under the sports list with 99.23 marks. School principal Rama Mahajan congratulated the students, teachers and parents.
