Petrol tanker catches fire

A petrol tanker was gutted after it accidentally caught fire near Jandiala Guru located on the main GT Road here today. Short circuit is said to be the reason behind the sudden fire.

Hira Singh, driver of the tanker and conductor Deepak Tiwari, informed that they were carrying petrol from Jalandhar to a filling station located near Rattan Singh Chowk in Amritsar, when the tanker accidentally caught fire due to short circuit.

They said they tried to douse the fire with the help of an extinguisher but the fire engulfed the whole truck within no time. They saved themselves by jumping off the truck.

Police teams immediately reached the spot and around three fire tenders were used to douse the fire.
