Dressed in finery, students of BBK DAV College for Women marked the day with swings and feasting on festive food. Folk songs and ‘kikli’ were presented as the young girls enjoyed the festivities while learning about the significance of the festival. Chief guest, Dr Shweta Shenoy dwelt on the cultural significance of Teej and defined it as an occasion for women to give a free reign to their heart’s innermost desires.

BBK DAV Principal, Dr Pushpinder Walia said, “The cultural significance of fairs and festivals in the life of the Punjabi community is deep rooted. The swing (peeng) is considered as a symbol of woman’s hopes, aspirations and dreams to cross all barriers obstructing her growth and advancement in life.”
