A large portion of the concrete pots with bush flowers on the divider of the busiest Hussainpura railway overbridge (RoB) has been dismantled.

However, a portion of these concrete flower pots, which is at least two to three feet higher than the road level, still exists.“I still remember those red and pink coloured flowers amidst green bushes which used to offer a soothing site to the passing commuters,” said city resident Rajinder Singh.

A heavy rush of vehicles has taken a toll on the beauty of the Hussainpura RoB. Commuters, especially two-wheelers, do not hesitate to cross over the nearly one-foot high divider to escape traffic jams.

Consequently, the footpaths and dividers are in a deplorable condition and most of the upper crust of concrete has eroded.

Another resident, Mandeep Kaur, said red-brick tiles used in raising concrete pots had been pilfered and the road of the RoB had deep pits at many places.

However, it had failed to draw the attention of the authorities.

The RoB connects the ISBT to the Civil Lines area and buses coming from Majitha and Batala roads.

This has led to traffic snarls because scores of vehicles cross over the lane abruptly which leads to a risky situation for those coming from the right lanes.
