Lok Sabha MP Jasbir Singh Dimpa urged Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal to initiate work on the Patti-Ferozepore rail line, which was sanctioned by the Congress government in its 2014 Budget. The 25-km rail line will connect Amritsar to Ferozepore, easily reducing the distance. Dimpa said the Punjab Government had kept Rs 40 crore to acquire land for the rail line. The MP also sought approval for Amritsar- Hazur Sahib Sachkkhand Express from Amritsar via Tarn Taran and Goindwal Sahib approaching Beas.

During his meeting with the Union Railways Minister, the MP also took up the issue of providing the facility of booking tickets at the Patti railway station. Residents of Tarn Taran face a tough time due to level crossing especially on Jandiala Road, which frequently remains closed. However, electrification work on the rail line from Amritsar to Tarn Taran, Patti and Khemkaran and Tarn Taran to Goindwal Sahib and Beas has already started.

Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner Pardeep kumar Sabharwal has taken a serious note of the re-carpeting of the Tarn Taran-Jandiala Guru road, which is going at a snail’s pace. The 16-km stretch links Amritsar and Jalandhar to Tarn Taran. The road has developed potholes, making it difficult for commuters. Buses pass through the newly built National Highways No. 54, ignoring the interests of villagers along the Tarn Taran-Jandiala Guru road. During a meeting, The DC instructed official of the PWD to finish the work at the earliest. The DC said the state government had already released a grant of Rs 7 crore for re-carpeting the road, but officials were not serious. Deep potholes on the road are leading to mishaps. The road has not been recarpeted for more than 10 years.
