Khalsa College held its annual sports meet here today. Students, including both boys and girls, competed in various sports competitions organised during the meet.

Athletics was the main attraction of the two-day programme, which was inaugurated by Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina along with Principal, Dr Mehal Singh.

Apart from the winners of various events, sportsperson of the college, who had won accolades in the inter-college, inter-university and national events were honoured during the function at the college sports ground here today. “As many as 104 students have represented the college in the inter-varsity competitions during the last one year,” said Dr Mehal Singh.

Student participated with enthusiasm in athletics, races, shot put, long jump, cycle race, marble race, musical chair and sack race, which were organized today on the college campus.

Results: In the 200 metre (boys) race Balraj came first, Jugraj was second and Dharamveer bagged the third spot. In the 100 metre (girls) race Sunita Rani was first, Nirmal Kaur came second while Anuradha Thakur was placed third.

In the long jump, Sunita Rani bagged the first position, Jamuna second and Arshdeep Kaur was placed third. In the 200 metre (girls) race Sunita Rani came first, Lakhwinder Kaur second and Jamuna bagged the third spot.

Dr Mehal Singh thanked the team of the Physical Education Department for organizing the annual sports meet. He said sports infrastructure had been strengthened in the college and students, too, had excelled in various events.
