GNDU inks MoU with PHTPB to boost tourism

To boost tourism in the state, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) and Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) on Tuesday.
Shivdular Singh Dhillon, CEO of the PHTPB, and Vice-Chancellor of the GNDU Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu signed on the dotted line.
“No stone is being left unturned to make Punjab a frontline state in tourism sector. The signing of the MoU for both the institutions would forge a long-term partnership. Besides this, a series of activities would also be chalked out to give fillip to tourism in the state,” said Dhillon.
“We are happy to associate with PHTPB who have the expertise in the field and we are confident our partnership will be beneficial in endorsing the state as an ideal tourism spot. Besides inbound tourism, we also aspire to target the urban communities in India to experience the real Punjab” added Prof Sandhu.
Dr Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, coordinator university industry linkage program, said, “Rural India has a great potential and there is immense opportunity to be tapped. It offers unparallel experience to tourists seeking to discover real India.” On the occasion, Prof Kamaljit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof SS Behl, Dean Students’Welfare, Prof SS Chimni, Prof in-charge, Public Relations, Alka Kapoor, manager PHTPB and other senior officials of the university and board were present.
