Amritsar, September 25

In a meeting of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) here today, Chairman-cum-District-Sessions Judge KS Kang issued directions to civil and police administration officials not to assign election-related duties to Naib courts and other court staff. The Chairman said with court staff assigned these duties, the work of courts gets affected.

Kang also said to get the property under litigation vacated and to hand over its possession to the rightful owner, the police need not wait for the Duty Magistrate, as orders of the court are sufficient for the purpose.

He also stated that drug addicts should be identified at the courts and they should be given de-addicted at the earliest. “This way the addict would be able to lead a normal life,” he said. —TNS
