The bridge as well the grills along the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor leading to Chheharta have failed to serve their purpose, as commuters have made their own way to cross the roads. Notably, the BRTS corridor has been constructed in the middle of the Grand Trunk road, making it difficult for pedestrians to reach the other side. As a result, a bridge over the BRTS corridor was constructed for the comfort of the pedestrians. Secondly, grills have been put on the sides of the roads to manage the traffic, but these have been uprooted to make an easy way out.

Making the situation worse is the number of hoardings placed on this particular bridge questioning its real purpose. The bridge is more about hoardings rather than reaching the other side. This also raises a safety issue, as the entire bridge has been defaced badly.

The broken grill on this particular stretch reflects the lack of traffic sense among residents as well as the chaos it adds to the heavy traffic on the busy GT road.

Kamal, a commuter, said, “I guess people should use the corridor rather than putting posters on it. It was constructed for the comfort of the pedestrians, but the grills are broken. It becomes an easy way to cross over to the other side.”
