Inderjit Singh Chawala, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), BRTS, said, “All the necessary steps will be taken to avoid such incidents. We have issued instructions to conduct dope test and medical check-up of the drivers. We will also review the duty hours of drivers.”

According to information, the drivers have to spend 12 hours on duty. Some of the drivers claimed that they are not getting adequate time for sleep. Long duty hours sometimes lead to such incidents.

Jaspal Singh, driver of the BRTS bus, which hit the car of Durgiana Temple Management Committee president Ramesh Chander Sharma on Sunday, has been arrested as he was under the influence of drugs when the mishap took place.
