Though the state government is spending crores to beautify the historical Ram Bagh and installing new equipment inside the garden, the boundary wall of the garden, which was constructed some years ago to give it a heritage look, has got damaged from several points.

Employees at the Ram Bagh claimed that drug addicts damaged the wall to get iron rods from its domes.

It is worth mentioning here that to give a look of heritage building, the wall was designed by following medieval architecture. The iron roads were used to give support to the domes on top of the wall.

A barber, who runs an open vend alongside the wall of the garden, said, “A large number of drug addicts roam in the city. They often damage the walls to get iron rods. The drug addicts sell the rods to earn easy money for drugs.”

However, there is no proper security arrangement at the garden. But a contractor, who has been installing new equipments in the park, hired private security.

“We are designated to keep a check on the material inside the children’s park. I am not aware of who broke the wall. A large number of homeless, beggars and addicts take shelter in the garden so they might have damaged the wall,” said a guard.

Meanwhile, the residents alleged that due to the careless attitude of officials concerned, the walls had damaged soon after their reconstruction.

“The government uses degraded material on public infrastructure. The quality should be checked. There are several other buildings on the same road and they have counteracted the boundary walls several years ago but no one damaged those walls,” said Harvinder Singh, a walker in garden.
