Apeejay College declared overall champion

Amritsar, November 8

Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, has been declared the overall champions during the Inter-Zonal Final Youth Festival held on Guru Nanak Dev University campus. The festival concluded with giddha.

The runners-up position was grabbed by Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, and the third place went to BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar.

In the literary event, BBK DAV College got the first place, followed by Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar.

In theatre event, Lyallpur Khalsa College got the first place whereas Apeejay College got the second place.

In fine arts, Apeejay College got the first place whereas second place went to Lyallpur Khalsa College.

In folk event, the first place was claimed by BBK DAV College and the second place went to Lyallpur Khalsa College.

In music event, Apeejay College bagged the first place and BBK DAV College was placed on the second position.

Dr Om Gauri Dutt Sharma, DDG, Doodarshan Kendar, Jalandhar, presided over the valedictory function.

While congratulating the winners, he said there was a dire need to understand the culture and traditional values, so that students could build good character and contribute to the progress of the nation.

“The youth festivals always inculcate a sense of competition, discipline and friendship among the youth. The student artistes who did not achieve their goal of winning should work hard to excel next time,” he said.

He congratulated Dr Jagjit Kaur, director, Youth Welfare, for successfully organising the youth festival.

Dr Sharma and Dr Jagjit Kaur honoured the winners with trophies. Dr Jagjit Kaur also honoured the chief guest with a memento. — TNS
