Guru Ravidas was a North Indian mystic poet saint, social reformer and a spiritual figure. He advocated removal of social divisions of caste, gender and promoted unity in the pursuit of personal spiritual freedom. He believed that God resides in every human being and everybody had equal rights on this earth. His poems were included in Guru Granth Sahib. The assembly began with the recitation of shabad. Students narrated incidents from Guru’s life and read out his teachings that everybody was equal in all respects irrespective of caste, colour or belief. They also highlighted the value of wetlands, its beneficial aspects as well as to promote its conservation and use for enhancing the overall level of the human health, growth and development. They enacted a role play to ensure positive and affirmative action for conservation of wetlands. While addressing students, Principal, Dr Neera Sharma, said, “Teachings of Guru Ravidas are based on universal brotherhood and tolerance, which should be followed.
