300 GNDEC students placed in first phase

More than 20 companies visited the Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) for their hunt for fresh talent from 2019 passing out batch.
Infosys, Accenture, TCS, Cummins, Saint Gobain, Thermax, Trident, BYJU’S, Hewlett Packard, Jaro are the major companies that offered jobs the students.
The recruitment process began from September 2018 and students from all branches of B Tech, M Tech, MCA, and MBA appeared for the placement drives. Salary packages ranging from Rs 5.5 lakh per annum to Rs 15 lakh per annum were offered by the participating companies. Adding on to the placements are the various internships, earned by GNDEC students with stipend varying from 5K-18K in the firms like TCS, Infosys Corporation, OYO, Thermax, Amber and many more.
Training and placement officer GS Sodhi said GNDEC was working very hard on bridging the academic-industry gaps with regular expert lectures, webinars and doing MOU with industries like Mahindra, Infosys’s Campus Connect, TCS’s Campus Commune programme and many more. Several companies, including Happy forging, Denso, Nestle, Godrej, Indian Acrylics are expected to visit the campus in the ongoing second phase of placement.
Prof Sodhi further added that all the students who are eligible and wish to have placement shall get it by the end of semester. He added that a well designed two weeks Industrial orientation is scheduled before sending the students on industrial training. The training becomes effective as the industrial expert interacts with the students during various sessions.
Principal Dr Sehijpal Singh congratulated the T&P cell for improving the placement and training opportunities for the students. He said that some research centers in the areas of 3D-Manufacturing, Smart Grid technology, Solar and other non conventional technologies, Road Safety are being developed in collaboration with national and international organizations for enhancing training and placement avenues for post graduate students. — TNS
