Apprehension over 'School darshan' for parents tomorrow

As per the directions of the Education department, the school managements should be ready for “School-darshan” by parents tomorrow. This was a step taken by the department to make the masses aware of the facilities in the schools. Under the initiative parents would be allowed to visit the government schools on April 16 so that they can enroll their wards there.

A principal of the school while terming the step as “a wrongly timed one” said that hundreds of teachers and students have already tested positive for Covid and a few teachers have lost their lives too. “The department should have waited for some time before initiating such campaigns. From tomorrow onwards, books will be shown and distributed to the students”, he said.

Besides, the parents are invited to visit the respective schools in their areas and see what facilities are being provided by the government in government schools and accordingly, they can get their wards enrolled in these schools. The announcements were made through Gurdwaras, community centers etc.

Tejinder Singh, one of the parents said that by missing the daily wages, the working parents can not visit the schools. “I have asked my wife to go and see what schools want to tell. But in the times of Covid, educated and uneducated class, both avoid crowded places and unnecessary exposure”.
