Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur today campaigned in favour party candidate for Barnala Assembly seat Kewal Singh Dhillon.

Thakur met advocates in Barnala and assured them that their problems will be resolved and demands met. He asked them to support the BJP in the byelection. He also participated in a door-to-door campaign-cum-road show in the Dhanaula market, seeking votes for Dhillon.

Accompanied by former minister Manoranjan Kalia, general secretary of Punjab BJP Anil Sarin and the party candidate, the Lok Sabha MP accused the AAP government of not fulfilling promises made to the people during the 2022 Assembly elections. He also held it responsible for the tardy paddy procurement and the shortage of DAP fertiliser. He alleged that the state government did not make prior arrangements for paddy procurement and DAP fertiliser. He claimed that the Centre had already sent Rs 44,000 crore to the state government for the procurement of paddy.

Thakur alleged that the law and order situation in the state had been deteriorating with every passing day while the state government had miserably failed in curbing incidents of extortion, snatching, murder and loot. He alleged that the AAP Government had also failed in containing the sale of drugs.

He claimed that the BJP would win all Assembly byelections in the state.

Thakur appreciated Dhillon for getting the district status for Barnala. He said if Dhillon won the bypoll, he would develop Barnala as a model constituency by getting big projects from the Centre.
