Angad Cheema, Olympian Udayan Mane to feature in J&K Open starting October 23
Local lad Angad Cheema along with the likes of Aadil Bedi, Olympian Udayan Mane and others will play in the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) J&K Open, at Jammu Tawi Golf Course, in Jammu, from October 23 to 26.
The total prize purse for the event will be Rs 50 lakh. The Pro-Am event will be held on October 27. The tournament is part of J&K Tourism’s initiative of promoting golf tourism in the region. The top Indian professionals participating in the event include Cheema, Shaurya Binu, Yashas Chandra, Abhinav Lohan, Olympian Mane and Saarthak Chhibber. The foreign challenge will be led by Czech Republic’s Stepan Danek and American Dominic Piccirillo.
“The PGTI is delighted to return to the mesmerising surroundings of J&K for the fourth edition of the J&K Open. We thank J&K Tourism and the Jammu Tawi Golf Course for partnering with us in staging this event, which has emerged as one of the biggest attractions on the PGTI schedule,” said Kapil Dev, president, PGTI.
Jammu Tawi Golf Course is an 18-hole course, designed by renowned designer Col KD Bagga. The course was commissioned in 2011. The golf course is located along the National Highway 1A connecting Jammu to Srinagar, in a valley along the Tawi river. The course has fairways 6,600-m in length, has two big and three small water bodies and a water channel about 3,200-m long.
