Youth beaten to death over old dispute in Amritsar's Jahangir village

A youth was allegedly beaten to death by a Nihang over an old dispute in Jahangir village falling under Kamboh police station here on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the deceased identified as Malkeet Singh was alone when accused Sukhdev Singh, who lives in the vicinity, entered his house and allegedly assaulted him.

Malkeet’s parents had gone somewhere when the incident took place. After returning late at night, they found him dead and informed the police.

A police team led by DSP Lakhwinder Singh reached the spot and initiated investigation in the matter.

Rajpal Singh, a relative of the deceased said the accused had earlier also indulged into a fight with the family.

Amritsar rural SSP Charanjit Singh said raids are on to arrest the suspect, who is absconding since the incident.

A case has been registered against him following a complaint by the family members, he added.
