Woman migrates to Canada, refuses to help spouse get PR
Six members of a family have been booked by the Patti city police for a Rs 25 lakh fraud committed in sending a female member of the family abroad. They later refused to adjust a male member of the family which gave the amount to send her to Canada.
Sub-inspector Jaspal Singh, SHO, Patti city police station, said that the accused have been identified as Jaskarandeep Kaur, her father Bikaramjit Singh, uncle Kulwinder Singh, brother Gursharanpal Singh, grandfather Gurbachan Singh and another Gurdev Singh, all residents of Patti.
The SHO said that the accused Jaskarandeep Kaur with the financial help of Gurcharan Singh, also a resident of Patti, could go to Canada with the help of an amount worth Rs 25 lakh that he gave her.
The police officer said that the accused Jaskarandeep Kaur got married to Rajkaran Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh. Three years back, she called Rajkaran Singh to Canada who lived with her as her husband. But after some time, she refused to help him in getting Canadian PR (permanent residency). Gurcharan Singh lodged a complaint with the Patti city police which registered a case under Section 318 (4), 308 (2) and 61 (2) of the BNS on Tuesday. The accused Jaskarandeep Kaur was settled in Canada and the other accused were in Patti. The police officer said that the accused were absconding and raids were being conducted to nab them.
