A dispute over Panchayat election in Kamaska village turned deadly, resulting in the death of a 42-year-old woman, Kuldeep Kaur, and injuring two others, Prem Singh and Shamsher Singh. The incident occurred on October 4, the last day for filing nomination papers.

According to Kuldeep Kaur’s husband, Balwinder Singh, the conflict began when his aunt, Jaspal Kaur, filed her nomination for Sarpanch against Daljit Kaur, wife of Mirza Singh. During the nomination process, an altercation broke out between Surinder Singh and Major Singh, who threatened Balwinder’s group.

Later that evening, around 7 pm, the group returned to Tarsem Singh’s tile factory, where they were ambushed by a group armed with rifles, sharp-edged weapons, and wooden logs. The attackers fired shots and assaulted Prem Singh and Shamsher Singh, leaving them seriously injured.
