Woman ends life, 2 booked

The Rambagh police have booked a youth and the owner of a franchise of an Ayurvedic medicine company on the charges of abetment to suicide after an employee of the firm ended her life.

Dimplepreet Kaur, (25) the victim, was missing since June 28. The body of the victim was found from a canal in the Khalra area in Tarn Taran. Following complaint by the victim’s father, the police have booked Joban Singh of Lopoke and Karamjit Singh, owner of the franchise company.

Sukhwinder Singh, father of the victim, a resident of Mudhal village, told the police that Dimplepreet went to her work place June 28 morning, but did not return.

When she did not return, the family talked to her colleague Sarika who told that she got a call from Dimplepreet on June 28 noon. She told Sarika that Joban had developed relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. Now, he got engaged with some other girl, she said. The victim alleged that on Joban’s recommendation the franchise owner threw her out of the job. Disturbed over this, she wanted to end her life, said Sarika.

Sukhwinder said on Friday, the family got a call from Tarn Taran police that their daughter’s body was lying at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital.

The police registered a case against Joban and Karamjit in this connection. Further probe was on and efforts were being made to arrest the suspects, the police said.
