Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu said even if a passenger does not have enough cash while travelling in a train, he can make payment by scanning QR code/UPI through the Hand Held Terminal (HHT) available with the on-board ticket checking staff.

In January this year, the division received a revenue of Rs 1.31 lakh from ticket checking transactions through QR code/UPI scan, which increased to Rs 8.87 lakh in June.

As compared to the revenue earned through QR code/UPI scan in the months of January and June, Ferozepur division has seen an increase of 677 per cent. Campaigns are being run from time to time regarding QR code to make railway passengers aware, as a result of which the number of users is increasing day by day.

Regular checking is done at the main stations of the division to keep them clean and stop public from spreading dirt at the stations and make them aware of cleanliness. Over Rs 70,000 was recovered from 403 passengers in June for spreading dirt on the station premises (Anti-Littering Act). Besides, cleanliness campaigns are also run from time to time to make passengers aware of cleanliness.

The DRM said ticket checking campaigns would continue in the division with the objective of improving the sale of railway tickets and to ensure that no passenger travels without a ticket. For this, a target of zero ticketless travel has been set by Ferozepur division.
