Three cross-border weapon smugglers nabbed in Amritsar

State Special Operation Cell arrested the accused when they were coming to deliver the consignment to some unknown persons

Acting on a tip-off, the State Special Operation Cell of Punjab Police has busted yet another cross-border weapon smugglers’ racket and arrested three persons in this connection.

Those arrested were identified as Arsh of Ramwal village, Sandeep Singh, alias Raja, and Amritpal Singh of Basarke Bhaini village in Gharinda area. The police reportedly seized three .32 bore Glock pistols, which were smuggled from Pakistan-based entities. A case under the Arms Act was registered against them. Further investigation is on.

The SSOC got a tip-off that Arsh was in touch with foreign-based gangsters and Pakistan-based anti-national elements who wanted to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab. Sources in the police said he along with Sandeep Singh and Amritpal Singh had recently retrieved a weapon consignment smuggled from Pakistan through drones. They source said they were coming to India Gate on the Amritsar-Attari road to deliver the consignment to some unknown persons. The police later laid a trap and arrested the trio.
