A suspected blast took place at Wadala Bangar police chowki on Friday night.

The chowki falls in the jurisdiction of Kalanaur police station of Gurdaspur police district.

A section of the villagers say it was a “minor blast” while senior officers claimed that a brick was thrown at a window which subsequently broke. “The noise emanating from it gave rise to suspicion that it was a blast. However, that was not the case,” said a senior officer.

Experts have reached the spot and started investigations.

The presence of so many senior officers, including an SSP, an SP and two DSPs, clearly showed a major incident had taken place and the cops were trying to underplay it.

SSP Harish Dayama who had reached the spot said, “It is nothing serious. Some miscreants had thrown a brick at a window, hence the noise. In any case, we are investigating the sequence of events that led to the noise.”

SP Jugraj Singh and DSPs Gurvinder Singh Chandi and Amolak Singh, too, reached the spot.
