Stage set for swearing-in ceremony of newly elected sarpanches, panches today
Gearing up to hold a district-level swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected sarpanches and panches here on Tuesday (tomorrow), a meeting to discuss arrangements was held here on Monday.
Taking stock of the preparations in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said preparations for the event were almost complete for the programme in which Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal would conduct the ceremony by raising the hand of the newly elected panches. She said the parking arrangements for the panches and common people attending the event have been made at an open ground in Ranjit Avenue’s E-block and from there they would be taken to the venue in buses.
She issued instructions to the officials concerned to ensure timely completion of all ongoing arrangements and special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the venue.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of the departments concerned to check the arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness of toilets, toilets, uninterrupted power supply, medical facility, etc. Police personnel were instructed to ensure the security of the venue, smooth traffic arrangements, etc.
