Snatchers on prowl in Amritsar, teacher among 3 fall prey

A government teacher was robbed by three unidentified bike-borne persons near Thande village here on Wednesday.
The victim, Shivani Kohli of Chheharta, was returning home when the incident took place. She told the police that she worked as a teacher in Government Middle School at Kirtangarh village. She said she was returning home through Thande village via Kot Khalsa here on her scooter on Wednesday. Three unidentified youths came from behind and intercepted her. They snatched her purse, mobile phone and fled the spot.
The police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, the police arrested two snatchers, identified as Harjinder Singh of Patti, Tarn Taran, and Nishan Singh of Ghanupur Kale village for robbing a couple from Jalandhar. During investigations, the police recovered a mobile phone from their possession. A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC was registered against them.
In another instance, two unknown persons snatched Rs 27,650 from Amandeep Singh of Batala. The incident occurred on Monday while a complaint was lodged with the police on Wednesday. The complainant told the police that he was going from Sudhar Rajputa village to Kaleke village, when unknown persons robbed him of cash and bike.
