Sikh activists of various organisations including Baba Makhan Shah Lubana Foundation, Chandigarh and Baba Makhan Shah Lubana Society, Jalandhar today approached the Akal Takht.

They appealed to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh to withdraw the notice served upon former SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur as it could not be held appropriate.

On September 26, she was served a notice seeking an explanation within a week on a complaint submitted by individuals against her at the Akal Takht regarding the two and a half decade old murder case of her daughter. She was also questioned over her alleged indulgence in ‘roma di beadbi’ (Dishonouring the hair).

Bibi Jagir Kaur had already submitted her reply in which she clarified that she was implicated in a false case out of political rivalry and that she had never indulged in ‘roma di beadbi’.

The appeal letter was submitted in favour of Kaur by Sikh activists including Mahinder Singh, Parminder Singh, Partap Singh, Sukhminder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Avtar Singh and others. They stated that keeping in view the sanctity of Akal Takht, the notice should be withdrawn as it pertained to personal, derogatory and baseless allegations which never demand any attention.
