Sidhu couple enjoys tea at stall on Cooper Road
The famous — Giani Tea Stall on Cooper Road — had an unexpected “special” guest this morning. Dressed in their best, Navjot Singh Sidhu along with his wife Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu today had their morning tea at this stall. Visibly elated Sidhu, sharing a video clip on social media, said it was after four months that he was taking his wife on a day out tour in Amritsar.
The PET (positron emission tomography) scan test conducted on her in Amritsar had testified that she was clinically cancer free, he said.
Dr Sidhu also blushed when Sidhu praised her with the famous Bollywood number ‘Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra…Zulfo Ka Rang Sunehra’ and also danced to the tune.
On reaching the tea stall, Sidhu met its proprietor warmly. “Eh visit ‘Noni’ (Dr Sidhu’s pet name) de theek hon di khushi vich hai’ (This visit is to express happiness on my wife’s recovery), said Sidhu.
The couple preferred to sit on wooden stools on the road lane alongside with other visitors and had tea in ‘glassi’ (glasses) instead of cups.
Sidhu also praised the tea served to them in his one-liner — “Gulistan me ja ke har gul ko dekha…na teri chai jaise rangat hai na teri chai jaise khushboo hai” (Watched every flower in the flower land, but no flower had the colour and scent like your tea has).”
The couple had a cup of tea each. Speaking about “kachauri” Sidhu said to his wife, “You can just smell its aroma and watch it, but can never eat it. Only, I will eat it.”
