Sacrilege Issue: SAD mulls legal action against Congress, AAP for 'defaming' Akalis

The Shiromani Akali Dal is considering taking legal action against the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for defaming the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in sacrilege cases, claimed senior SAD leaders while commenting on investigation into the sacrilege case here today.

Senior leaders of SAD, including Vir Singh Lopoke, Gurpartap Singh Tikka, Shiromani Committee members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Ram Singh, Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Talbir Singh Gill, Gurpreet Singh Randhawa and Surinder Singh Sultanwind, today addressed a press conference and alleged that leaders of some Panthic organisations, along with the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party governments and their Chief Ministers, had defamed the SAD by lying for their political motives.
Lopoke alleged some anti-Panthic forces represented by the Congress and the AAP had tried to provoke a confrontation in the Sikh community over the issue. They had lied to sangat in the name of Guru Granth Sahib, which is a heinous sin. Such allegations have caused great mental suffering to the entire leadership of the SAD, the office-bearers and the Badal family.
The leaders claimed that the conspiracy has come to light in the investigation report released now in this case. It is clear that they wanted the Sikhs to fight each other and wage a civil war in the nation. He said only Guru Granth Sahib can forgive such people for their sins.
The Akali leaders disclosed that the party was considering legal action against such persons and was seeking the opinion of legal experts in this regard. He said after the opinion of legal experts, it would be decided by the Shiromani Akali Dal to file a case against such leaders.
