Rs 30 lakh granted to 31 schools in Ajnala
Amritsar, July 19
Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday issued cheques worth Rs 30 lakh to 31 government schools in Ajnala constituency. The grant will be used for providing clean drinking water to these schools and improving basic amenities.
Dhaliwal, while disbursing the money to school heads, said, “Providing clean drinking water to children is a part of the government’s efforts to improve basic amenities and raise the standard of education in the schools of Punjab.” Apart from this, an amount of Rs 3 lakh has also been released to Ghonewal village for development works.
He said an amount of Rs 2.50 lakh has been released to the Primary Health Centre, Ramdas, and Rs 1 lakh for Government College, Ajnala, under development project.
Ajnala, a largely border constituency, has been facing several development challenges, including the dismal state of government schools. Mostly primary and middle schools in the constituency face acute teacher shortage and infrastructure issues, where some schools do not even have proper toilets and drinking water provision.
While Dhaliwal assured that development works in Ajnala will be carried out speedily, he also promised more funds for development works in schools across the constituency. Block Education Officer Daljit Singh and Education Department officials from Ajnala were in attendance at the event today.
