Robbers injured as neighbour fires to foil loot bid at Jeobala village
Two robbers were shot and injured in Jeobala village on the intervening night of November 6-7 when they came to commit robbery in the house of a woman whose husband is abroad. Sub-inspector Avtar Singh, SHO, Sadar, said here today that the injured robbers have been identified as Ramandeep Singh and Rajbir Singh. Two of their accomplices who escaped have been traced as Surjit Singh and Sarwan Singh, all residents of Kambo village.
The SHO said that the robbers had come to the house of Mandeep Kaur whose husband Mangal Singh is abroad. The SHO said that Mandeep Kaur was attending to calls on her mobile phone when the robbers entered into a scuffle with her and tore her garments. Anmolpreet Singh, son of the woman, called their neighbour Bagicha Singh to help the family.
Bagicha Singh fired into the air from his residence to alarm robbers, but they paid no heed. He came to the spot and fired at robbers injuring two of them. Robbers took away purse of the woman and fled from the spot. The SHO said that the woman left home along with her family to some unidentified destination fearing for her safety. A case under Section 304, 333, 74, 35, 1 (3) and 3 (5) of the BNS has been registered in this regard. — OC
