The need to create cultural consciousness and its relationship with belief and knowledge formed the theme for a special session hosted by Naad Pargaas, to mark the 143rd birth anniversary of Pingalwara charitable society’s founder Bhagat Puran Singh, who was also a noted scholar and philanthropist.

Singer-Songwriter Rabbi Shergill was the special guest on the occasion. He stressed that the understanding of cultural consciousness can only be done through literature. The speakers also spoke about new possibilities as artificial intelligence and their impact in context to the understanding of literature.

The event culminated with Rabbi Shergill’s soulful performance. He spoke about Puran Singh’s life, personality and work ethic. Speaking about the personality of Puran Singh, he highlighted his contributions in Punjabi literature. Naad Pargaas editor Prof Gurchetan Singh shared his opinion on Puran Singh’s literary works. The articles of the special issue dedicated to Puran Singh’s birthday were also discussed. A set of Puran Singh’s publications and the issue of Mankard were also presented to Rabbi Shergill on the occasion.
