RAAHI project: EV charging stations to start functioning soon
Amritsar, February 17
The long-pending demand of e-auto drivers for the installation of EV charging stations is going to be fulfilled soon. Senior MC officials claimed that the infrastructure is ready for EV charging stations at main sites of the city under the RAAHI project and these EV charging stations will be operational by next week.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harpreet Singh stated that work order was given to Adani Total Energies to install 19 EV charging stations at various sites of the city for which the MC leased out its land to the firm and the company is going to install EV charging stations on a revenue sharing basis, which will be beneficial not only for e-auto drivers but also for four-wheeler/two wheeler riders. The government is promoting electric vehicles to safeguard the environment and to make the cities pollution free.
The MC Commissioner appealed to the old diesel auto drivers to replace their autos under the RAAHI project because a cash subsidy of Rs 1.40 lakh is available only up to March 31 and after that period, no subsidy will be given on replacement of diesel autos with e autos. He said this is the only scheme in which the government is giving a cash subsidy on replacement of diesel autos.
