PSEB Class X, XII exams begin

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) began conducting the PSEB board exams 2024 from today. Class XII exams began with home science paper conducted in single shift from 11am to 2.15 pm. Students have been given review the question paper from the commencement of exam from this year onwards. Class X exams will be conducted in multiple choice questions mode, in single shift of three hours and students with disabilities were given additional time for completion of the paper. For Class X, Punjab A and Punjab B for subject of history and culture were conducted today.

As many as 28,730 students of Class VIII, 28,119 of Class X and 27,282 of Class XII will be taking the exam. Besides, 888 students of Class X and 856 students of Class XII are taking the exam in 238 centres in the district.

To curb malpractices and commotion during conduct of examinations, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-cum-Executive Magistrate, Amritsar city, Navjot Singh, in exercise of the powers vested under Section 144 of the IPC, has issued an order that in addition to the staff on duty and students, a complete ban has been put on walking and gathering of students’, parents and general persons around the examination centres. This has been done in efforts to prevent cheating in these examinations and to conduct the exams in a smooth manner. The order states that it is passed unilaterally with effect from February 13 and will remain in force till the conclusion of the examinations.

The PSEB too has launched a tracking application PSEB-MATQ to track question papers and answer sheets of students at collection centres, to avoid any leakage or malpractice. Along with centre superintendents and invigilators, the board has also deployed flying squads.

The PSEB Class 10 exams will conclude on March 6, while Class 12 exams will conclude on March 30. Meanwhile, the board exams of Class V will commence from March 7 to 14, while Class VIII exams will be held from March 7 to 27.
