Police nab two burglars with Rs 4L
The Gate Hakima police have arrested two thieves who had burgled a house 10 days ago. They had decamped with Rs 10 lakh from the house owned by Deepak Kumar, a resident of Gali Aave Wali in Bhagtanwala area.
The police have recovered Rs 4 lakh from their possession and further investigation is in progress.
While giving details, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishaljit Singh said Deepak told the police that he looks after accounts work in the Bhagtanwala grain market. He said on November 30, he had withdrawn Rs 7 lakh from a bank while Rs 3 lakh was already in the wardrobe.
He said on November 31, he had gone to meet his relatives and next day when he returned home, he found the cash stolen from the house. The police registered a case and started investigations by analysing the CCTV cameras in the area to find the clues about the perpetrators.
“The police identified the two thieves as Aman (35) and Abhay (22), both residents of Noori Mohalla, located near Gate Hakima police station here. Following their arrest, the police recovered Rs 4 lakh from their possession,” said Vishaljit while adding that some more names have cropped up and raids are on to nab them.
He said Aman was a habitual offender and had come out of jail on bail in September. He had nine cases of the NDPS Act, burglaries and excise act against him in Amritsar city, Amritsar rural and Tarn Taran districts.
